I wrote four versions of this post couldn’t get it right, so I’ll keep this one extremely simple. I have decided that I am no longer going to write this blog. I am too busy with work and school, in 2 months I am taking 6 courses (to finish my degree), and in 6 months I am going traveling for a year. The end is inevitable, so it makes sense to have it here. I should use any extra time I have now to develop my travel blog because I will be living through it for a very long time.

The irony of this situation is that I finally have a blog that people are reading. But that is life. In the last few days I haven’t even had time to open Google Reader (to browse my many RSS subscriptions), and I cannot see me having more time in the foreseeable future. I always seem to end up in these situations. Oh well.

The good news is that you will still be able to follow me along on my travels at www.jpony.com. It’s certainly going to be an interesting adventure, because I’m letting random people all over the world literally make suggestions and vote on what I do. Check it out!

Thank you kindly for your patronage. I hope you join me on my adventures.

Take care,

Jeremy David

Behold the Jeremy David Blog Empire!

Muaha haahahah haahah… Sorry.

As per requests from visitors, I have split my chaos blog into its three separate parts.

Part A: Choose My Adventure now resides at www.jpony.com. Here is where you get to send me on all sorts of crazy travels around the world. When I leave in August, JPONY will become my primary blog. Celebration.

Part B: I spend a considerable amount of time on the Internet. I heart the internet, among other things. Here (www.jeremydavid.com) is where I dish out commentary on what I find relevant in the world.

Part C: I have to be passionate about global issue, and for me that is Climate Change and Sustainability. My newest endeavor, www.slowme.com, is dedicated to just that. And while the page isn’t officially launching until March 1, I am working hard trying to build partnerships and getting people involved… so check it out!

jeremydavid.com is now jpony.com!

The new site for Jeremy David’s, I mean my - errr - your adventures is www.jpony.com!

Why the new domain name?

Good question. During the summer I came up with a really good idea for a website: an online adventure where people all over the world literally choose a real person’s adventures and he acts them out. That person is me… and you are one of the adventure choosers. Foolishly, I kept changing my mind about the site, changing things around, doing new things, and now it is a mess. This site is so chaotic, random, and hard to navigate that I want to start with a fresh start… and I think using my name as the domain name is a little egocentric.

I know all the “search engine optimization” people out there have all sorts of warnings about switching over to a new domain, and I probably should stick with one and build up google search engine optimization or whatever. But honestly… who is going to be searching for a site where you can choose someone’s adventures? I’m excited about this fresh start, and by the time I leave on our journey, I am confident I’ll have earned some google love.

I needed to do this to stay focused, and this new site is going to accomplish that by having separate pages link off of the main page: my blog, my radio show… and as I add new things and improve the site, all of those features will be seperate.

Oh, yes… I have not answered why I chose the name “JPONY”. Well… it’s actually an inside joke and when I try to explain it, it doesn’t work. Just think of it as a, well, bizarre nickname that no one actually calls me but everyone knows about.

So yes, all rss subscribers, please move over to http://feeds.feedburner.com/choosemyadventure

Cheers,

Jeremy David - www.jpony.com

Good News and Bad News.

I have some good news and bad news.

The good news is that I had an awesome time at my SNL party on Friday, I got caught up on all my reading for school, I ate copious amounts of popcorn, and I’m almost done updating my site.

The bad news is that it is past 12:00 right now, I have to get up at 6:30, and I do not have time to do my SNL story any justice… I knew I shouldn’t have watched American Idol Grease - Your The One That I want. It’s not only the most terrible slash awkward show in the world, but it consumed 2 hours of my life that would have been better spent updating this site. Grrrrr. I probably should have asked you if I was allowed to watch it. Don’t worry - I’m going to make sure that the new site is more interactive that way.

So…

I work all day and have a 4 hour board meeting tonight (Monday) *shudder*, so I am going to try to launch the new site on Wednesday. I’m very excited about it. Sorry about the delay!

Site Update!

This blog seems to be evolving into a personal diary, which is not what I intended when I created it. So before it gets too far out of control, I have decided to go back to the basics and create exactly what I had in mind.

This is a choose your adventure site where you come up with ideas for random things for me to do, vote on them, and I act them out. Simple. Easy. Fun. Since I go to school full time and am paying copious amounts of money to do so, there are some limits to what I can do right now. However, every weekend I will do something and report back to you how it turned out. What will that something be? I have no idea. It’s up to you.

In August school is over forever, and I am going traveling around the world. It was decided that I go to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, so there will be many opportunities for me to embark on crazy adventures while I’m there – crazy adventures that you suggest.

I have decided to start using video blogs. Don’t worry – for those of you who hate video blogs, I am going to post the majority of the content in text beneath the videos.

Site Update!

Great news! I am moving my blog over to a new host today! Expect few changes… except that everything will work faster, which is really cool. I hate slow sites, and now this is no longer one of them. The hassle factor is going to be extreme, but it will be worth it in the end (this is a pre-produced post as I am in Vancouver this weekend).

In response to the poll I’ve had up for the last few days, I’ve actually found two really interesting blogs that sort of do what I was talking about. Instead of making a mashup of what they do on their sites, I am going to try to come up with a way to integrate their RSS feeds onto this site, in a way that isn’t irritating. Or something else that works…

Tomorrow I will update you with all of my random acts of kindness for the weekend, let you know what else I got up to, and all sorts of other fun stuff. Hopefully my name severs update quickly so you can enjoy the post FAST!
Cheers,

SlowMe and Domains Anonymous

I have a domain name addiction. Yes, I am sure that there are people out there who buy way more domains than I do, but in my life I have owned at least 20 domains and that number continues to grow.

The problem with my domain name addiction is that I never actually do anything with them. If I turned around and sold the domain name it wouldn’t be a problem… but my domains just sit in my account waiting to expire.

I’ve had an idea for a website for about a year, and today I arbitrarily decided to create it. The site is called SlowMe, and it’s a blog that is about tangible things people can do to be sustainable. I get really irritated when people talk about problems but offer no solutions. The purpose of this site is to teach people what improvements they can make that not only help them, but also help the world. I used the word “improvements” on purpose because there is a misconception that being sustainable involves making many sacrifices. There are actually changes that raise one’s standard of living while helping people.

If you are bored, check out the site and tell me what you think.

Upgrading Site

My other theme was having some problems in Internet Explorer, and it was a little bit glitchy overall, so I decided it was time to update it. It took me a considerable amount of time to add some new functionality to the site (email subscriptions, del.icio.us / feedburner stuff), so I’m calling it quits for tonight.

I still have some work ahead of me, so I plan on finishing the upgrade over the next few days. If you have any ideas for further enhancements, feedback, glitches to report, or any other comments in general, please contact me.

Cheers,
Jeremy

My name is Jeremy David

Hey there! My name is Jeremy David, and this is my webpage. I’m a fourth year business student – but very different than the stereotypical suit-toting commerce junkie. Last year I got myself elected to the University of Victoria Students’ Society, so I work full time as the Director of Academics. It’s a paid position, and I really enjoy it. I am also a Student Senator. I guess you could say I’m very passionate about student politics – or that I am narcissistic and power hungry. Either way, I ultimately hope that students benefit in the end. I also think part of me loves the drama that envelops student run organizations and university politics. I get around. Though not in the slutty way.

I have finally come up with an idea that I like for this website. It’s gone through many changes, and this is most likely version 14 or 15. Seriously. My life is very dramatic (although I am sure I bring it all upon myself), and I certainly could make a reality TV show out of it. Or a soap opera. But are people actually going to come here and read about my life? I have no idea. But what if people had the opportunity to influence my life. A choose your own adventure, of sorts – where people give suggestions and vote on what I do. Yes, that is exactly what this website will become. It’s going to take some time to get a user base large enough to make this work, and the way users can physically interact with the site is going to take several evolutions as well. I’m very excited about this idea and hope you participate.

I have some fantastic news. In September or October next year, I am embarking on a year long round-the-world trip. I have the air miles ready, and have been looking forward to this trip for years. You now potentially have the opportunity to live my trip vicariously though me. If this website works, I want every detail of this trip to be influenced by you. I hope to eventually have the infrastructure so I can make decisions in real time. Post a question, and an hour later act on your submissions. My adventure will be your adventure, and I am really excited about it.

There are going to be some rules. At this time, I can only think of two.

  1. Unfortunately, as much as I need relationship advice (I’m not being sarcastic) I do not think venturing into that domain would be a good idea – the people I heart and who potentially heart me obviously will be reading this website. “Should I break up with PERSON X and go out with PERSON Y?” Not going to work. Sorry.
  2. Only reasonable ideas will be posted on the website and acted upon. If someone suggests that I assault someone, obviously I am not going to do it.

To the hundred or so people who enjoy my To Whom It May Concern letters, have no fear. My bizarre hobby will continue. To the three or four people who read my “Quest for a Six Pack” blog, I am not surprised that people could care less about what I eat everyday and how much I exercise. I’m not going to update it anymore; however, I am still on my 6 month quest for total body perfection. Ha ha ha.
